Who writes this, why, and who pays for the one box that is paid for
Between Mom and Kids is a small reference desk for one reader at one moment: the woman raising teenagers in the west St. Louis County suburbs while her mother, a town or two away, starts needing rides, meals and someone in the house in the afternoons.
This site is supported by New Plan Care, a St. Louis in-home care company.
Who publishes it
This site is published by OwnersFirm, a St. Louis company that builds and runs small reference sites for local businesses. Nobody here is a doctor, and the byline is the desk, not a person, because we would rather you trusted the links than a face.
Why it exists
Most writing about the sandwich generation is national and general. It tells you that you are stressed and that you should practice self-care. Nothing we could find put a Rockwood or Parkway school calendar next to the afternoon a mother in Pacific cannot spend alone, and named the collision. That is the gap this desk fills: one method, the split week, and a shelf of articles written to the questions a woman in this spot actually types into a phone at 2am. The voice is a mom friend at the pickup line who has been through it. It is funny where it can be, and it never suggests you are failing either of the people you are trying to be there for.
The disclosure
The two companies are not commonly owned. The box is named in the footer of every page, on the homepage and at the foot of the articles where it honestly fits, and it is never a rank, a score, or a result drawn from anything on this site. The one form on the homepage goes straight to that company. It asks for a name, an email, a phone number only if you want a call or a text, and how you would like to be reached. Leave diagnoses and medicines out of it.
The articles themselves were not paid for. The source list was assembled from the links the articles already use, not from New Plan Care Solutions. If a page ever compares companies or ranks anything, which none of them do today, the sponsor will not be in the comparison.
What this site is not
It is not a clinic and it is not a match service. Help at home, as these pages use the phrase, is non-medical: company, meals, rides, keeping the day on schedule and telling the family if something seems off, a person in the house in the afternoon. Medicines stay with the family, the doctor and the pharmacist. It is not nursing, not therapy, not medicine. Every article that gets near a question about symptoms or medicines has a short section that sends that question to the doctor or the care team, because that is where it belongs. Nobody here can tell you what is wrong with your mother, how long she has, or what a symptom means. If you need a diagnosis, a prognosis, or a plan of care, that is her doctor's work, not this desk's.
It also does not publish anyone's prices. We have not found a public file that lists what non-medical in-home companies in this metro charge, so we print none, including for the company that pays to be here. If you want a rate, you call and ask.
How the facts are handled
Every number and every program claim on this site links, in the sentence where it appears, to a public source: a federal or Missouri government page, or a major nonprofit such as the National Institute on Aging, the Alzheimer's Association, the Family Caregiver Alliance, Mental Health America or the Caregiver Action Network. Each one was opened and read on the date shown on the sources page, and the site quotes the source's own numbers and year rather than rounding them. If a fact could not be sourced, it was cut. Nobody on these pages is a made-up family with a made-up quote. There are no reviews here, and no stars.
How we count visits
No tracking tag, no pixel, and no outside analytics script sits on these pages. Visit counts are logged on the server for the publisher. The form on the homepage sends what you type to New Plan Care Solutions and nowhere else.
If a page needs a correction
A dead link, a stale figure, or a sentence that goes past what its source actually says: we will rewrite it. The fastest route is the phone number on the homepage, which reaches the sponsor; ask them to pass a note to the publisher. Corrections change the page and the sources list, with the date.
